Assures all possible relief, rehabilitation measures to affected families<\/strong>
\nKARGIL, JULY 31, 2021<\/strong> In order to assess the ground situation in the aftermath of damages caused by flashfloods and subsequent mudslides in different villages of Shakar Chiktan Block, Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil visited the area at length today.
\nThe CEC was accompanied by the Executive Councilor for Health Mohsin Ali, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kargil Anayat Ali Choudhary, Councillor Khangral Haji Qasim Ali, Nominated Councilor Padma Dorje, BDC Chairperson Shakar Chiktan Syeda Banoo , Additional SP Iftikhar Talib Choudhary, Assistant Commissioner Revenue A G Zargar, ACD Kargil Ghulam Muhammad, SDM Chiktan Muhammad Shareef Kakpori, Tehsildar Shakar Chiktan Asgar Ali Khan, Executive Engineers of REW Kargil, PDD, R&B-2nd division, PMGSY, I&FC, PHE, public representatives of different villages and concerned officers of various departments.\"\"
\nThe CEC visited Lamsu, Sandow, Yukma Kharbo, Zgang, Dache, Mongbore, Khangral, Stakchay, Danak, Mundik, Gongma Lungba Bodh Kharbu and Stakchey villages of the subdivision and assessed the situation due to flashfloods in these villages.
\nAt Lamsu, Sandow and Yukma Kharboo, the CEC was informed that due to the flashfloods irrigation kanals, irrigation khuls, water tanks, drinking water supply lines, agriculture fields and few homes have been severely affected however there is no human causality.
\nThe CEC met the public delegations of the villages and assured that drinking water, irrigation water, road connectivity and electricity will be restored on priority basis and regarding the assessment of the losses caused due to the floods, the Revenue department is already doing the survey for compensation and other relief. At Zgang, the CEC was informed that drinking water pipelines have been blocked due to the flashfloods.\"\"
\nCEC Feroz Khan also visited Mangbore village which is the most flood affected village of the subdivision. He was informed that around 8 to 10 houses have been largely affected, link road of the village has been blocked, and agricultural fields been have been affected.
\nThe CEC assured the villagers that basic priorities such as drinking water, electricity and other important things will be restored on priority and long term assistance will be done in a step wise manner.
\nThe CEC visited Stakchey and interacted with the public representatives where Councilor Khangral Muhammad Qasim thanked him and the officers\u2019 team for visiting the area to take on spot assessment of the damages due to flashfloods in the subdivision.
\nCEC Feroz Khan said that he along with the team of officers has assessed the whole subdivision at length and have seriously taken note of the situation, adding he said that directions have been given to provide drinker water through water tankers and water taps and further electricity has almost been restored at all places and roads are also being restored at all affected locations. He assured that necessary relief will be given after the assessment, and at UT level the LG Ladakh will be requested to grant special package for the flood affected areas.
\nThe CEC urged the public to cooperate with the administration and assured that the concerned departments will do their assigned jobs on priority to provide relief and ease to the problems of the people.\"\"
\nFeroz Ahmad Khan also visited Bodh Kharbo where he visited the 14th century monastery and flood affected Gongma Lungba village.
\nThe CEC later held a public meeting at Photang Bodh Kharboo where the public representatives of the village and nominated Councilor Padma Dorjay thanked him and the team of officers for visiting the flood affected areas and expressed hope that the affected people will get relief soon.
\nLater, the DC Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve took assessment of Khangral-Sanjak road which has been affected at some places due to the flashfloods. He assured that the matter will be taken up with the Beacon authorities for immediate redressal.
\nDC Santosh Sukhadeve also visited Charaks village and took assessment of the damages caused by the flash floods.
\nThe Deputy Commissioner assured that all necessary measures will be taken for restoration of essential services and providing relief and rehabilitation to the affected families.<\/p>\n
