Chandigarh, August 29 – Haryana \u00a0Forest and Tourism Minister, Mr. Kanwar Pal said that with the aim of promoting greenery and increasing the income of farmers, Haryana government will be planting\u00a0 saplings of various fruits on government’s expense.<\/p>\n

He said that the fruits\u00a0 grown on these trees will belong to the farmers and the trees will belong to the forest department, meaning that, by selling fruits, farmers will be able to increase their income and\u00a0 after the fruit season gets over, then those trees will remain as property of the forest department.<\/p>\n

Apart from this, as per another decision, half of the trees under the radius of 3 meters from the road will belong to the farmer and half to the forest department.\u00a0 In this process also, the farmer will have priority in pruning the trees.<\/p>\n

Mr. Kanwar Pal said this while addressing the gathering at a programme organized by the Forest Department in village Mussepur of Indri subdivision today regarding plantation of fruits and medicinal plants over an area of 10 acres of panchayati land.<\/p>\n

He informed that the area of this medicinal fruit garden is 10 acres.\u00a0 Various fruit plants such as mango, guava, litchi, peach, lemon, behera, amla, harad, berries and other species will be planted in it.<\/p>\n

Earlier, he inaugurated a medicinal and fruit garden built on the panchayati land and this will increase the income of the panchayat.\u00a0 He said that everyone should keep the environment clean by planting as many plants as possible and take care the plants planted by them.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the Minister gave the message of keeping environment clean by planting saplings.\u00a0 Besides this, the Minister also honoured the members of self-help groups from Bayana and Sangohi by giving them prizes.<\/p>\n

The Forest Minister further informed that in the first phase, a total of 1100 villages of Haryana from all 22 districts have been identified for the plantation drive by the state government.\u00a0 The State Government has decided to plant saplings in 50 villages in each district.<\/p>\n

He said that the forest area of Haryana State is about 7 per cent of the total geographical area whereas ideally it should be 20 per cent.\u00a0 To achieve this objective, the State Government has to increase greenery by ensuring maximum plantation and ensure its safety also. For this purpose public support is required because no government programme or campaign can be successful without public participation.<\/p>\n
