BJP State Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir, and Prabhari Doda District, Pawan Sharma, has strongly condemned the derogatory and unparliamentary remarks made by Mehraj Malik, MLA Doda, against the Deputy Commissioner of Doda, S. Harvinder Singh.
Sharma said that the MLA’s remarks are not only an attack on the dignity and reputation of a dedicated administrative officer but have also deeply hurt the sentiments of the entire Sikh community, to which the officer belongs, and shaken the conscience of the entire civil society.
“It is unfortunate and shameful that a public representative has stooped to such a level of language against a government officer who is known for his integrity, impartiality, and public service. Such conduct is unbecoming of an elected legislator and sets a wrong precedent in public life,” Sharma stated.
He further said that leaders should set an example of responsibility and decency, but the derogatory language used by MLA Doda reflects a disregard for democratic values and constitutional propriety.
“Sharma strongly demanded that MLA Mehraj Malik tender an unconditional public apology to DC Doda, the Sikh community, and the people of Doda district, stating that his derogatory remarks have gravely insulted a sincere officer, deeply hurt community sentiments, and dealt a serious blow to social harmony.”
“He further appealed to the people to maintain peace, harmony, and restraint, emphasizing that such incidents must not be allowed to disturb the brotherhood and unity of the region.”
“Public representatives are expected to uphold dignity and respect while voicing their concerns. Any attempt to malign officers on communal lines or with unparliamentary remarks will not be tolerated. BJP stands firmly with DC Doda and the Sikh community against this insult,” Sharma concluded.
