Chandigarh, July 30 – Principal Secretary, Haryana Forest and Wildlife Department, Dr. G. Anupama said that for the sustainable use of biodiversity in the state, a detailed action plan will be prepared by March 2022 in coordination with various departments. Apart from this, 4 ‘Biological Diversity Conferences’ will be organized in the state to make people aware of biodiversity at the circle level.

Dr. Anupama was addressing during a workshop organized by Wildlife Institute of India on the directions of Ministry of Environment and Climate Change here today.

She said that due to environmental degradation in the present time, the threats related to biodiversity are increasing.  The situation is becoming more dangerous due to the imbalance of environment in developed and developing countries. Whether there is erosion of the rocks in the mountains or there is excessive rain and drought, all this is happening due to the lack of biodiversity.

Chairman,  Haryana State Biodiversity Board, Sh. Vineet Kumar Garg, while welcoming the guests who came to the workshop, highlighted the guidelines for preparing ‘State Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan’.  Scientists of Wildlife Institute of India Dr. VP Uniyal gave detailed information about the role and schedule of stakeholders in his succinct lecture.

On this occasion, representatives of Forest and Wildlife, Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries, Tourism, Animal Husbandry, AYUSH, Development and Panchayat, Rural Development, Environment Department participated in the workshop.
