The President of the Youth Akali Dal, Sarbjit Singh Jhinjer, has strongly reacted to the Aam Aadmi Party’s “War Against Drugs” rally in Moga, raising serious questions over the role of the Punjab leadership and alleged interference from Delhi.
He questioned the contradictory stand of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, stating that if the Chief Minister was genuinely unwell and admitted to Fortis Hospital in Mohali for a check-up, what suddenly changed that he is now prepared to attend a political rally? “Was the illness projected to gain sympathy, or is political optics taking priority over governance?” he asked.
Jhinjer further questioned whether internal issues between the Punjab leadership and the Delhi high command of Aam Aadmi Party have truly been resolved. “Has Bhagwant Mann succumbed to pressure from Delhi? Is Punjab being run from Delhi?” he remarked.
He alleged that the entire rally setup — including flags, sound systems, tents, chairs, and air-conditioning arrangements — was brought from Delhi at the expense of Punjab’s public money. “Why should the people of Punjab bear the financial burden of political showmanship directed from Delhi?” he questioned.
Taking a swipe at Arvind Kejriwal, he said the party leadership must clarify whether Punjab’s administration is functioning independently or under remote control.
In conclusion, Sarbjit Singh Jhinjer asserted that Shiromani Akali Dal will continue to expose what he termed as “event-based politics” and will hold the government accountable on the serious issue of drugs, governance, and financial transparency.
