Weekly meeting of State Task Force for improving sex ratio held under chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Sh. Sudhir Rajpal
Chandigarh, 23 September 2025
Haryana Health Department’s Additional Chief Secretary Sh. Sudhir Rajpal said that negligence in improving the sex ratio will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He gave a clear warning that Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) of those districts which are not showing good performance will face strict departmental action, and they are being continuously monitored.
Today, he chaired the State Task Force (STF) meeting through virtual mode. In the meeting, he directed all CMOs to remain active in their respective districts and further strengthen field-level monitoring. He also instructed the headquarters officials to provide full support to the districts and take concrete measures.
During the meeting, it was informed that from January 1 to September 22 this year, the state’s sex ratio has improved to 907, compared to 904 during the same period last year. However, the district-wise performance of some districts has been below par. The Additional Chief Secretary told the CMOs of those districts that they must prepare a concrete action plan and take corrective steps at the earliest.
The case of Kaithal district was also discussed in the meeting, where a complaint had been received regarding a government pharmacist illegally selling MTP kits. On this, the Additional Chief Secretary directed the Kaithal CMO to submit an action report, suspend the pharmacist immediately, and also ensure police action against him.
The Additional Chief Secretary said the process of reverse tracking should be further accelerated. Health Department officials informed that action has already been taken in 11 cases so far. The report of action taken against private practitioners was also reviewed in the meeting. Along with this, instructions were given to take strict departmental action against SMOs and CMOs of those districts which are not delivering the expected results.
The Additional Chief Secretary stated that the state government is adopting a zero-tolerance policy on this subject. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, the government is fully committed to stopping female foeticide and improving the sex ratio. The government’s goal is to make Haryana an ideal state in this direction and further strengthen the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign.
The meeting was attended by Director General Health Services (DGHS) Dr. Manish Bansal, Dr. Kuldeep Singh, State Task Force Convener Dr. Virender Yadav, along with other officials.
