Take concrete steps to increase agricultural production and export: Chief Minister Shri Chouhan

Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that apart from increasing agricultural production, concrete steps should be taken to increase exports in the state. Efforts should be made to increase the production of high-yielding crops through diversification. Care should be taken that farmers do not suffer any kind of loss in agriculture and horticulture crops. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan gave these instructions to the officers in a review meeting of crops related to agriculture and horticulture at his residence today. Chief Secretary Shri Iqbal Singh Bains along with officers of Agriculture and Horticulture Department were present.
Conduct campaign for diversification of crops
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that farmers should be motivated for alternative crops through diversification to make farming profitable. Make efforts for this by running a campaign and also train the farmers. If farmers face any kind of problems in diversification of crops, then also solve them. He said that farmers should be educated about the crops that require less water.
Promote organic farming and dairy products
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that maximum efforts should be made to increase the production of crops through organic farming. He said that the quality of crops should be maintained so that farmers can get maximum benefits. He also directed the officers to increase the export of dairy products and milk products. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan directed to explore possibilities for the cultivation of sandalwood in the state and to motivate people for this.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that production of paddy and wheat is better in the state. Similarly, the area under cultivation of coarse cereals should also be increased. He directed for maximum production and branding of coarse cereals and Kodo-Kutki. He said that the export of Basmati rice should be taken to the highest level. Export of GI rice of Chinnor variety of Balaghat should be promoted. Agar and bamboo cultivation should be encouraged. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that sufficient quantity of fertiliser is available in the state. The state is receiving fertiliser racks from the Centre from time to time. Its distribution to the farmers should be ensured in a better way. There should not be any negligence in the distribution system.
A state level monitoring committee has been constituted for the implementation of agricultural export policy in the state. Mandi Board has been declared as the nodal agency for agricultural export promotion. Companies have been registered as agricultural exporters of cereals, pulses, green chillies and vegetables. The export prospects are being assessed by analyzing the agricultural value chain of wheat, soybean, kodo-kutki, banana, orange, chilli, garlic.
