CM Chouhan to deposit Rs 61 crore in the account of 6 lakh 10 thousand urban street vendors

    Bhopal : Thursday, April 29, 2021

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will transfer grant amount of Rs.1000 each to the bank account of 6 lakh 10 thousand urban street vendors on April 30 at 3 pm. In this way, about Rs 61 crore will be credited to the accounts of the street vendors through DBT.

Urban Development and Housing Minister Bhupendra Singh has informed that the livelihood of street vendors is being affected due to Corona curfew imposed in various districts against Covid-19 infection. It is in this context that the decision to provide grants to urban street vendors has been taken to provide relief to them. Urban street vendors can connect directly to the programme through the webcast link  webcast.gov.in/mp/cmevents on their mobiles.

It may be noted that the PM Swanidhi Yojana was launched on July 1, 2020 by the Government of India under the Atmanirbhar Phase-2, in connection with Covid-19 to reconnect urban street vendors with employment and provide livelihood. Under this scheme, a loan of Rs 10 thousand is provided to the path vendors. Under the scheme, an interest subsidy of 7 percent is given by the Government of India. There is provision for loan of working capital of up to Rs 2000 per year on digital transactions. The subsidy of remaining interest is being provided by Madhya Pradesh. Under this, interest subsidy amounting to about Rs one crore has been given to the banks till March 31, 2021.

Rs 313 crore loan amount disbursed

Interest-free loan is being provided to urban street vendors in Madhya Pradesh. Madhya Pradesh is one of the leading states in the implementation of the PM Swanidhi Yojana in the country. Out of a total of 6 lakh 10 thousand verified street professionals in the state, about 4 lakh 81 thousand applications have been submitted in the banks. Out of this, loans have been sanctioned to 3 lakh 44 thousand path vendors. So far, loan amount of Rs 313 crore has been disbursed to 3 lakh 13 thousand street vendors in the state.
