Haryana Energy Minister Sh. Anil Vij said that dangerous electricity lines passing over schools, colleges, hospitals and other public institutions across the state will be shifted in a phased manner at the earliest. Giving top priority to this work, he has directed officials of the Energy Department to constitute a dedicated cell under the chairmanship of the Chief Engineer to ensure regular monitoring and timely execution of the work.

Providing further details, Sh. Vij said that the constituted cell will continuously monitor all works related to the shifting of dangerous power lines and submit a progress report to the office of the Energy Minister every 15 days. He informed that Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited has constituted a special cell under the chairmanship of the Chief Engineer (Operations), Panchkula, which includes a Superintending Engineer, concerned Operation Circle XEN/SDO and XEN (Planning).
21 lines of 33 KV shifted – Vij
Sh. Vij said that under Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, a total of 27 feasible locations were identified for shifting 33 KV electricity lines, and approval has been granted for all 27 works. Out of these, shifting of 21 lines (77.8 percent) has been completed, while work on the remaining 6 lines is in progress.
1116 lines of 11 KV shifted – Vij
Similarly, for shifting 11 KV electricity lines passing over schools, colleges, hospitals and other public institutions, the Nigam identified 1299 locations. Out of these, 1116 lines (85.9 percent) have been successfully shifted, while work on 183 lines is progressing rapidly.
He informed that 33 KV lines passing over Government Senior Secondary School in Jhajjar district, Government Model Senior Secondary School in Ismailabad (Kurukshetra), Government Model School in Bhalsi and GPS School in Vikas Nagar (Panipat), GSS and GPS RK Colony and GPS School in Fazilpur (Sonipat), as well as GHS Mandour School in Ambala, have been successfully shifted.
Similarly, 11 KV power lines passing over GSS Toondli, GSSS and GPS Sapera in Ambala; GSS Sirsama, GPS Chuniya Farm and GGPS Pehowa in Kurukshetra; GMS Palhedi, GSSS Soundhapur, GPS Bilaspur and GPS Kiwana in Panipat; GPS Jazi and GPS Kalaspur in Sonipat; and PM Shri GSSS Sarawan School in Yamunanagar have also been shifted.
‘Power supply should not remain disrupted for more than two hours in urban areas and four hours in rural areas’ – Vij
Energy Minister Sh. Anil Vij has issued clear instructions that electricity supply should not remain disrupted for more than two hours in urban areas and four hours in rural areas. He said that if power disruption exceeds the prescribed duration, strict action will be taken against the concerned officials, especially the Superintending Engineer (SE), and in serious cases, suspension action may also be initiated.

Sh. Vij has also issued necessary instructions regarding quick replacement and repair of transformers. Under these instructions, maintenance staff must have all necessary tools, safety equipment and transformer trolleys available so that any technical fault can be resolved promptly. He also directed that all future power substations should not be established in waterlogging-prone areas. If unavoidable, substations must be installed at least two feet above the potential water level. Obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the concerned department will also be mandatory for this purpose.
